Our History
Every great spa has a soul. Ours was born in a fishing village, in a family that believed healing should be honest, natural and from the heart.
One room, two hands, endless ocean
In 2001, long before Amed became a destination on every diver's map, our founder opened a single massage room beside the Bunutan–Bangle road in Amed. There was no signboard — guests arrived by word of mouth, guided by the smell of frangipani and the promise of honest Balinese healing.
The philosophy was simple then, and it hasn't changed: 100% Balinese hands, 100% natural ingredients, 100% heart.
From village hut to Amed's wellness landmark
2001–2008 · The Village Years
Word spread from divers at Jemeluk Bay to travelers along the coast. The original therapist trained her daughters and nieces in the family massage tradition — the same hands that lead our team today.
2009–2018 · Growing Naturally
We expanded treatment rooms, built our signature flower bath garden, and made a promise that still defines us: no artificial fragrances, only ingredients from Balinese soil — chocolate, lavender, sea salt, tropical fruit.
2019–Today · Amed's Quiet Icon
More than 15,000 guests from over 40 countries have passed through our doors. Yet every guest still gets the village welcome: a warm foot wash, an unhurried massage, and ginger tea as the waves roll in.
Traditions that never left us
Canang & Gratitude
Each morning begins with a canang sari offering — Balinese gratitude to nature for the flowers, oils and hands we are blessed to share.
Jamu, the Old Way
Our traditional herbal tonic is brewed in-house following a family recipe of turmeric, ginger and tamarind — served warm after every royal ritual.
Teaching the Next Hands
Every junior therapist trains for months beside a senior healer before touching a guest — because technique can be taught, but sensing must be inherited.
